How do I get there?

From Kathmandu:    Drive 117 Km West on Prithvi Hwy. to Aanbu Khaireni. Head 20 Km North toward Gorkha to Laxmi Bazar. Take the access road to the Right (East) for     1.3 Km to Sikhar. Drive time is approx. 4.5 Hrs.

 

From Pokhara: Drive 83 Km East on Prithvi Hwy. to Aanbu Khaireni. Head 20 Km North toward Gorkha to Laxmi Bazar. Take the access road to the Right (East) for 1.3 Km     to Sikhar. Drive time is approx. 3 Hrs.

 

From Chitwan: Drive 36 Km North on Madan Ashrit Hwy. to Mugling. Head 7 Km West on Prithvi Hwy. (Towards Pokhara) to Aanbu Khaireni. Head 20 Km North toward       Gorkha to Laxmi Bazar. Take the access road to the Right (East) for 1.3 Km to Sikhar.
Drive time is approx. 2.5 Hrs.

 

From Bandipur:Drive 8Km down the Bandipur access road to Prithvi Hwy. Head approx. 18 Km East (Towards Kathmandu) to Aanbu Khaireni. Head 20 Km North toward Gorkha to Laxmi Bazar. Take the access road to the Right (East) for 1.3 Km to Sikhar. Drive time is approx. 2 Hrs.
 

Can I hire a car?

Almost all the guests that come to Gorkha Gaun come in their pre-arranged transportation. There are no rental vehicle companies in Gorkha so if you need to rent a vehicle; you will have to let us know beforehand. There are very limited choices on the vehicles in Gorkha because they are all private so they prices could vary.

What is the access road conditions?

The roads are all in good condition with a black top. The last 900 M is graveled; however, even a small car has no problem accessing it.

What are the costs?

Groups/Organizations:  We specially customize and quote according to the needs and the size of the party. Therefore, we will require a bit more information than individuals. Do you have any facilities for guides and drivers?

We do not have a separate designated facility for them. However, we do provide the drivers our staff meals complimentary and a bed in staff quarters if available. As for the guides; we provide complimentary room and board service if the guide is leading 10 guests or more. Otherwise, we charge them a special discounted rate depending upon the season. 

Do you have a guide service?

We do have a local guide service available for our resident guests. If you require a special language-speaking guide then we suggest you arrange the service from Kathmandu.

What kind of facilities are available?

Swimming pool: Due to the limited supply of water on the hill where we are located; we do not have a swimming pool.
Air conditioning and heating:  We are an eco-resort so we have refrained from using any high-power consuming appliances and we request our guests to help us stay that way. However, keeping our guests’ comfort in mind, we have floor-standing fans for the warmer seasons and we provide hot water bags in the beds during the winter seasons.
TVs in the rooms:    Gorkha Gaun was designed in mind to encourage our guests to spend more time outdoors. Although we have very comfortable rooms with all the needed amenities, we have not put any TVs in our rooms.
Internet availability:    We do have limited internet availability. Due to the nature of our terrain and the thick stone constructions of our cottages; the internet is available in designated areas.
Hot water availability:  We have dedicated solar water heating systems for each cottage. Unless it gets cloudy for several days in a row (very unlikely) we have plenty of hot water available for our guests.
 

What kind of meals are available?

Meals: We serve Nepali, Chinese, Thai, and Continental meals in our restaurants. However, please keep in mind that we are located in a semi-rural area; therefore, it is impossible to have lavish choices as some of the city hotels can provide.
Given prior notice in our “Guest Information Form”, we will do our best to cater to Vegetarians, Vegans, and folks with particular food allergies.

What are your meal schedules and how late do you serve?

In Gorkha Gaun, we are very flexible with our meal schedules. However, if we have large groups; we may have to designate the times for your meal. If you need breakfast earlier than 7 am or want to have a late night; please let our restaurant know so our serving staff will be scheduled accordingly.

Do you have room service?

We do not have room service in Gorkha Gaun because out residence cottages are very spread out. However, given prior information, we do provide room service for guests with special needs.

Do you have a bar in your restaurant?

Types of drinks served: There is a full bar in our restaurant. We have stalked our alcoholic/ non-alcoholic beverages based on the popular demands of our prior guests over the years.
        
Corkage Charges: It is against Gorkha Gaun’s policy to bring food and beverages from outside. However, in special circumstances and if prior arrangements are made; we can charge up to 20% on items we stock and 10% on items we don’t on the cost price.
